Why Cleanse 

Regular cleansing promotes the healthy and safe elimination of toxins from the blood stream, liver and gastrointestinal tract. Our bodies are exposed to toxins daily through normal respiration and metabolism, exposure to air pollutants, sun exposure, radiation, alcohol and drugs, viruses, bacteria and parasites, stress and injury, synthetic hormones, antibiotics, herbicides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, saturated fats, heavy metals and food additives. Many people have pounds of excess waste in their intestinal tract that is holding onto these toxins and re-circulating them back into the blood stream. The liver is responsible for filtering toxins and therefore many toxins are held within the liver for long periods of time, depending on the health and efficiency of the liver. On a cellular level toxins are referred to as free radicals, and cleansing is designed to combat these free radicals by loading the body with antioxidants through vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids while limiting exposure to toxins.

 

When to Cleanse

Cleansing is a natural and safe practice up to 4-times per year for preventative health purposes. The best time to cleansing is whenever one has low energy, poor digestion, irregular moods swings, having a difficult time losing excess weight or simply is looking to redesign or reestablish healthy eating patterns. Seasonal triggers are other good times to cleanse as the protocols differ by season. In the spring the cleanse protocol focuses on general detoxification and liver support. The focus in the fall changes to building immunity and stabilizing blood sugar. Winter cleansing is the opportunity to focus on warming the body and supporting the kidneys. Summertime cleansing supports hydrating the body, increasing circulation and the absorption of nutrients. 

 

Whole Food & Herb Cleanse Programs

A personalized cleansing program is defined based on each clients current and health history, lifestyle and food preferences. The cleanse program includes a 10-day season specific protocol where clients are given specific guidelines, menu plans and recipes.

Group Seasonal Cleansing Workshops

Group cleansing can be a comfortable approach for first cleanses or simply learning to eat and live cleanly. In addition to a personalized seasonal cleanse protocol, the group cleanse workshops focus on external and environmental toxins to avoid, complementary cleansing activities such as dry brushing and sweating, and transitioning some of the principles of eating and living clean into the everyday diet. During each workshop recipes and sample foods are provided. Group cleanse workshops take 3-weeks with the first week being an introduction followed by two consecutive weeks of eating and living clean. 

This coming fall the Group Cleanse workshop will be held in San Rafael at 1214 Lincoln Avenue. The series will run three Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8 pm, starting September 20th.

Sugar Substitute Elimination Protocol 

The elimination protocol is a 4-step process that involves dietary analysis, habitual analysis and strategic trials of the introduction of water and alternative food and beverages. This 4-step process takes approximately 4-weeks that can accomodate lifestyle and schedules as consecutive weeks are beneficial but not required.
